Organizing a Linen Closet: 3 Easy Tips

image

Hey guys!

I know it’s not glamorous or stylish, but I recently gave my linen closet a much needed purge and I thought that I would share it with you. This closet was stuffed so full, it was like a cartoon where things fall out on top of you when you open the door. Seriously.

This spring, we may have the occasion for people to look in this closet, so I cleared it out of pretty much everything except my everyday sheets & towels and added some bins to hold extra blankets and throws. If you have a storage space that you need to tackle, here are my 3 Easy tips for Organizing a Linen Closet.

Folding Towels:

I have always folded my towels with a triple fold. To me, it saves space and they look much neater this way. Just fold in half, fold in half again, and then fold 3 times.

Bundle Sheet Sets:

I learned this trick from Martha Stewart many years ago.

Put your entire sheet set into one of the matching pillow cases. When you’re ready to change your bedding, you just grab it and go. Everything is in one bundle. I find it’s super efficient, looks better (you don’t have to learn how to fold a fitted sheet) and saves space.

For mine, I have 3 pillows on each side of the bed, so that’s 6 cases along with the top & bottom sheet in one bundle.

Use Storage Containers:

I removed the bulky hard plastic storage bins that held extra blankets and throws, and replaced them with canvas laundry totes. These hold a ton of stuff, look much better and they were not expensive. And because I have a dog that likes to chew on the corners of pillow cases, I have lots of replacement covers. A simple sea grass basket is perfect to hold all those spares.
