Cool weather bedding

image

Hi there friends!

With the change of seasons and the cooler weather, comes a change in duvet covers and bedding for me. I think layering and changing the colors really help make the bedrooms in our house feel cozy for the winter.

For the summer season, in the master bedroom I used white and pale pinks in light cotton fabrics. For the Fall and Winter season, I change to a heavier cotton duvet that has the golds, blues, oranges and yellows of the season.

Duvets are great because they are much easier to wash than an entire comforter. Especially when you have dogs that like to sleep on the bed like we do. Layer a duvet with a fluffy filler over a basic quilt and a good pair of sheets for a bed you can’t wait to get into.

And I love lots of pillows on the bed. The more pillows the better.

The guest room gets an update as well. A linen duvet (great for summer too) added over a bedspread, all in a nuetral color scheme make this room soothing, serene and super cozy.

Do you change out your bedding colors and add lots of layered for the colder weather?

  1. Nice master bedroom, and how about that blue wall! Love it. BTW read your “about” information. . . those dogs look so sweet! I’d say they are lucky dogs indeed. Know what you mean about the incompatibility of pets and white bedding. I have a cream bedspread which spends a lot of time in a basin filled with soapy water and Borax while I wait for pawprints to disappear! LOL!

  2. I love your pretty beds…all are so pretty.
I, too, change from summertime to winter and this time, I jumped off into RED…I mean, REALLY red, and I am so so so in luv. We just moved and the master is a huge room and can stand lots of color. All thru the summer, the room was in creams, whites with touches of turquoise (my fav color) but for winter, which will be here in no time, I opted for COLOR…warm color.
Thanks for all you inspiration …I’m following so that I won’t miss a thing. :)

  3. I love the colors and pattern of the duvet cover. And it looks so pretty with your wall color. The sunflowers really pop with the wall color, too. I’ve always wanted a guest room with two twin beds…love yours. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely fall decor at the Best of DIY link party!

    1. Thank you so much for commenting. I actually felt bad for posting that because it wasn’t really a diy, but I was unable to delete it. I’m glad you enjoyed it anyway!
But, I am really glad you commented because it gave me the opportunity to see your blog and read your most recent post. I loved it. So thoughtful and motivating.
      Thanks :)

  4. Hi Karen, Your bedding looks so inviting and warm for fall – so pretty! That little pumpkin for sale sign you found is really cute too. And, ahem…those are two lucky cats!

  5. I love all of your cozy layers, Karen. I have been doing the same to our master bedroom. It’s so inviting to have a warm, cushy bed at bedtime as the nights become cooler. Lots of pillows is a requirement too! : )
