I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! We had great fun despite the bad weather. I guess we are just getting used to it.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago I found some great pieces for the house at the thrift store (ours is the Habitat Re Store) and I wanted to show how you can easily use cheap thrift store items to decorate your home.
I found these two lovely silver plated bowls among the plates & things of the store. One was $4 (plus it was 50% off) and one was $2. So $4 for both. Seriously y’all, you cant pass that up!
I love the small amount of tarnish on them so I didn’t clean them up when I got them home, I just gently washed them with dish soap.
(I do have a recipe to clean them naturally here.)
I have been wanting to use tarnished silver in my living room since I saw this piece on my friends blog, 2 Bees in a Pod.
It was my inspiration piece for how I styled my coffee table this Spring.
I really loved it and although I didn’t have anything like it, I was able to find this one (on clearance but WAY more than $4) at Terrain a few months ago.
I am very happy with it but it’s not a sterling silver look like the inspiration piece, so when I saw these sweet little bowls at the thrift store, I new that they would be perfect on the coffee table to add more of the look and finish that I was going for.
The large one nicely holds hydrangea from the yard, and the finger bowl is being used as a candy dish.
Pretty little additions for the summer for under $5.
If you check your local thrift store every once in a while, you can find nice pieces to add to your decor that are really budget friendly and look great.
Do you have a thrift store item that you love?
Have a great day!
