Holiday House Tour 2014 ~ Natural Elements

image

Welcome to my very first Holiday Home Tour!

I’m so happy to be sharing my home with you while iit’s all dressed up for the holidays! And and I’m also super excited to be sharing it with Kendra at Joy in Our Home for her week of Holiday Home Tours. The tour includes 18 ladies sharing their Holiday Homes December 8th-12th! There is a handy list at the bottom of my tour so you can stop by each one.

And I am also linking up with the Jennifer Rizzo Holiday House Walk!

So, come on in and have a look around.

No matter what you may be celebrating this season, hopefully you will find a bit of inspiration for your home, here in mine. Or at the very least, enjoy a ittle visit with us up on the hill.

Lets start in the Kitchen, since that is the entrance we use most often.

For this year’s holiday decor I used natural elements along with touches of traditional red. I have never actually used red before, so this is a fresh new look for us.

If you are new to our home, our style is very casual, with a little bit of a farmhouse feel. I don’t go over the top with my decor, I am a “less is more” person. And as much as I love glitter, I really didn’t use very much this year (gasp!)

The next room is our Den.

It’s a small room where our guests like to relax, especially by the fire this time of year. The holiday decor in here is kept simple, I really just added some festive pillows and throws (target had red throws for $15 so I got as many as I could carry) a small tree (light on the ornaments to be dog friendly) & some garland on the mantel.

Moving into the hallway,

Some winter greens, ornaments and a burlap bag with red trim make a simple statement.

And the coat rack got some stockings that are waiting to be filled.

Finally, our Livingroom. It’s about as formal as we get around here.

On the coffee table there are silver pieces for a little sparkle. A few seasonal pillows on the couch, lots of greens and a gold DIY sign over the large fireplace are the finishing touches.

  1. Karen, I truly love the way you have dressed your gorgeous home for Christmas. Like you, I used red for the first time this year and really enjoyed the change. It does feel very Christmassy!!
Thank you for linking up at Shabbilicious Friday. I’m delighted to be featuring your home at tomorrow’s party.

  2. I found your blog from those sweet ladies at 2 Bees in a Pod! Your home is stunning! Love all your natural and rustic elements. Just gorgeous!

  3. I just love your Walking In a Winter Wonderland wooden sign! So gorgeous! Your entire home looks so comfy and everything flows together so well. I love all of the greens you added, like the one in the jar. That cow painting is GORG! I am part of todays holiday tour, too!

    1. Carrie, I am so glad you stopped by! I tried to comment on your tour early this morning but my pad is super glitchy! Anyway, I wanted to say that I love how your home is elegant with all the gld and still kid friendly!
Thank you so much for the support!
      Happy Holidays!

  4. Karen, I just love your home! It has a very cozy country feel to it, and all your Christmas decorations compliment it so well!!! On a side note, our dining room is painted a similar color- I’m in the middle of redecorating it, and yours is giving me inspiration! :) I’m so glad to be on the Christmas home tour with you!
    Michelle @ The Painted Hinge

    1. Thanks Michelle! I can’t take credit for the paint colors since they were that way when we bought the house, but it was super nice to not have to repaint them!
All you ladies have been so gracious! Thank you for stopping in!

  5. Karen, I’d move into your home if you’d have me! Wow! Down to the smallest detail, I’m in love with everything you have done. Thank you for sharing it with us! Happy holiday!

    1. Iris, you are so funny! We have plenty of room, but you much have an appreciation for dog slobber!
Everyone’s homes are so lovely, it was so nice to join you all!
      Merry Christmas!

  6. Karen, ABSOLUTELY LOVE your Christmas Decor….very tastefull and pretty. For this being your first Xmas tour….GREAT JOB…..wishing you a BEAUTIFUL HOLIDAY.

    1. Karen, that is exceptionaly kind of you to say! It’s easy to see those other really beautiful homes and feel a bit overwhelmed, so your words mean a lot to me!
Thanks so much and Happy Holidays to you as well!

    1. Thanks so much Julie! Your home is stunning! I totally sympathize with you on taking photos on a cloudy day, it rained here for a week when I was trying to get mine done!
Happy Holidays and thanks so much for the kind words!

  7. Your home looks lovely. I tried to pick a favorite room/vignette but I couldn’t, I love them all! I do love how you incorporated the rolling pin and wood cooking utensils in the kitchen. It is so festive and clever. Right now, my house looks like it was ransacked for the holidays with boxes all over the place. You have inspired me to start decorating, thank you:).
Kristine recently posted…How to Make a Snowman Candle JarMy Profile

    1. Thanks Kristine, I have picked up the antique rolling pins here and there and plan to add more :) And “ransacked” makes me laugh! It’s so kind of you to say that you found inspiration here!
      Happy Holidays Dear!

  8. I just love your home and everything you’ve done to it….just enough red!! I love the rusty orb on in the wire box on the table….where on earth did you find it? I have searched over and over for such an orb! Thanks for sharing with us.

    1. Hi Vivian, thanks so much for the compliments! I picked up that orb at a garden store way out in the country somewhere. They had all sizes hanging outside and I regret not getting more! I’ll try to find out the name for you :)
      Happy Holidays!
