Simple Rustic Fall Mantel

Simple Fall Mantel

Hi Everyone!

I hope y’all had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! We enjoyed the beautiful weather and got some things done around the house. There is always something that needs our attention around here, so we take every opportunity to cross things off the to-do list.

One of the things that I did, was to bite the bullet and get out some Fall decor. I know everyone LOVES fall, and although it’s not my favorite season (because it means winter is staring me right in the face) I got in the spirit and completed a really simple Fall mantel in the kitchen. This year I was going for a clean, non busy look. It may even be too simple for some people’s taste, but it’s early in the season, I am easing into it.

Here is what I did:

I bought and cut some pine boards to the size that I wanted, glued them together with wood glue and then stained them. Next, I added some faux bitter sweet twigs to a wreath that I had, and hung it from the board with a clear wreath hanger. Then I used two glass vases for flowers that I picked up at Pier One.

A clean look with a low budget.

This month I will be sharing more of my Fall decorations and I’ll be joining several other bloggers for a Fall Home Tour in the beginning of October. I also have a full living room makeover that I did, that I am excited to show you soon, and a few crafty projects that I’m working on. Summer is over y’all,  it’s time to get back to work!

Have a great week!

  1. I am seriously in LOVE with this mantel! I feel like fall decor can go cheesy pretty quickly–I’m thinking of all of the purple, orange and black for Halloween–but this is so classy and simple. I want to make a wood backdrop just like yours.

    1. Good morning Mary Beth! I got the two wood fairs from Pottery Barn (still currently available) and the seagrass chairs from Steinmart (they should still have them) :)

    1. Wow, thanks so much Emily! You are too kind! I’m so happy that you like the untraditional look of it! Thank you so much for stopping by, I really appreciate it!

    1. Thanks Heather! You are so right! It’s always a jumble of of things. I’m so glad you like the simplicity of the mantel. Thanks so much for stopping by!

  2. Love the simple, yet beautiful fall mantel…..especially the stained wall board!! That adds so much interest! Looking forward to your other fall decor and home tour!

    1. Thanks Carol! I am always waiting on my husband too!!!
I got the mirror at Stienmart last year and it was solid gray, I added a bit of the whitewash on it myself to “soften” it up some. I don’t know if they still carry them :(

  3. Karen,
    Gorgeous mantel, dear friend!!!
I adore the simplicity of the wreath and the two vases!!!
The rustic element of the wood backdrop is spectacular!!!
I use to think of Fall as everything dying away,
but now I see Autumn as Nature’s last revival of glorious hues
before the earth slumbers for the awakening of Spring!!!
    Oh, and have I mentioned, I l o v e SNOW!!!
I’ll be watching for your participation in the Fall Home Tour in October!!!

    1. Oh my!! Let’s not even talk about the snow yet!!! Haha! I like it too, at first!
Thanks for the lovely compliments friend, you always brighten my day :)

    1. Thank you so much Angeline! I agree, I think things that are really packed with stuff can be overwhelming. I’m happy to share at the party! Thanks for stopping by :)

  4. This isn’t too simple for me, I like it! It does say Fall but doesn’t overdo it with pumpkins and gourds quite yet, even though I have seen pumpkins for sale at some of the farmer’s markets. I guess they are ready to go to their homes! I found you over at Carolyn’s Homework and would be so honored if you would stop by and share your mantel at my link party, Celebrate it Sunday! Happy ‘almost’ Fall!

    1. Thanks Chloe! I have been waiting for the pumpkins, they should be here any day now and even with those I think I’ll go pretty simple!
