- Empty the Toilet Tank
The first step is to ensure that the toilet tank is empty. To empty the tank, shut off the water valve. Lift the lid from the toilet tank until all the water in the toilet tank is completely drained. You may have to flush it several times, depending on the flow rate of your toilet.
- Pray the vinegar into your toilet tank
The second step is to swish the vinegar into your toilet tank. Pour at least one cup of vinegar on your toilet tank and swish it around the tank using a toilet brush. Ensure it covers all the areas that need cleaning. Leave it to soak for about 3 minutes. Remember to direct the spraying process away from the metals.
- Add baking soda
The next step is to add your baking soda. Add at least a cup of baking soda into your toilet tank, followed by another two extra cups of vinegar. Ensure it produces a fizzling action. You should then let the solution to soak for at least 10 minutes.
- Swish the solution around the toilet tank
Once the 10 minutes are over, you can use the toilet brush to swish the solution on the surface of the toilet tank. A new clean brush is preferred in this case. Repeat this process until all the solution gets to all the stains, including those that are above the water line. It is important to remember not to flush your toilet just yet.
- Flush the toilet
Last but not least, you should let the solution of baking soda and vinegar to sit for about 30 minutes. Then swish the solution at least two more times until all the stains in your toilet tank are gone. In case there are stains still remaining, scrub repeatedly with a stiff bristled nylon brush or by just using the normal toilet brush till your toilet remain sparkles clean.
Return the valve, set the water back and wait for the toilet water tank to fill. You can now flush your toilet to rinse. Warm water is preferred for rinsing the toilet. You can repeat the process until you get your desired outcome. If after a couple of flushing your toilet is not clean, drain the tank once more and repeat the process.
