Why traveling with kids is the best!

I have some friends who are parents who honestly look forward to taking a vacation without their kids. I am always astonished when I hear this as, whilst I understand that all parents need a break from time to time, our kids are usually the ones who actually make our vacations as good as they are.

Of course kids can be unruly and test your patience, but in the main they are fantastic travel companions and I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my vacation than with my little ones. Here are just some of the reasons why I love traveling with the kids so much.

Eyes of Wonder

Kids can really help you to stay inspired when you are on vacation as the things that you once thought were amazing but now have become accustomed to, are still amazing for the kids. Just watching the kids as they get on the plane with that raw excitement is something which amazes me as much as it does them and it reminds you not to take simple things for granted.

Constant Laughter

My kids make me laugh every single day and what better way to spend your vacation than with people who can make you smile. Even in the boring moments of your trip like when you are waiting to board the plane, or hanging around for a transfer, you can count on kids to do something or say something that cannot help but put a smile on your face.

Meeting People

Kids provide you with a great way to meet people and not just other parents. Because of the fact that kids pretty much have zero filter, they are able to cut through the politeness barrier and help to put you in touch with other people. Just last year we were on vacation and the kids were talking away to someone, that someone turned out to be Richard Branson and we had a lovely chat with him once they kids were done chewing his ear.

Excuse to be a Child Yourself

Let’s be honest, we all have that inner child which just wants to get out and play and kids give you the perfect opportunity to let the child within, out. Whether it be hitting the slides at water parks, going on the rides at a theme park or even getting up and dancing in a silly way, you can get away with all of these activities if you have a child on your side.

Up Bright and Early

Before I had kids, I was notoriously bad at getting up early and usually preferred going to bed late after partying. I actually don’t enjoy waking up late and when you go on vacation with kids, you really don’t have a choice. This means that you get up and out so that you can enjoy your day and really make the most of it.
